Anita Quansah 2010-2011 Collections

Anita Quansah London is a designer from London who produces eclectic, stylish and expressive one-off pieces of clothing and neckpieces. She studied textile design in Chelsea College of Art and Design London and since graduating, she has been working with recycled textiles to create original pieces. With the knowledge and inspiration gained, she is also working on a collection of jewellery that is a bit of bohemian tribal fused with effortless chic with a modern twist. She is inspired by her passion for creativity, travel (Africa), nature, art, architecture, fashion (contemporary and vintage), and music of past and present generation. She has been involved with the fashion industry, collaborating and creating unique embroidered textile pieces for some of the leading textile and fashion design houses such as Christian Lacroix, DKNY, Diane Von Furstenberg, Ischiko, Victoria Secret, Ecko and textiles Weisbrod Zurrer and Sandy Starkman. 2004 saw her do a collaboration with Christian Lacroix, designing and embroidering a jacket which featured on the runway for the Haute Couture show. What some might discard, Anita discovers in flea markets, charity and vintage shops and uses the reclaimed garments and textiles to create ingenious handmade creations that are nature and culture inspired. Each intricate piece is deconstructed and meticulously fused together into textural, innovative, and colourful abstract pieces by using a wide range of textile techniques and embroidery as a mode of painting with texture on the garment. Anita’s pieces are truly a work of timeless wearable art and I am pleased to be able to introduce you to this wonderful talent.
